My Name, But Not My Person
My Name, But Not My Person
My name is
Christiana Iyanuoluwa Kolapo. You might have heard the name before; if not,
here you are, hearing it now. Recently, a question came to my mind: "How
many people truly know me?"
To satisfy
my curiosity, I asked around. To my surprise, many people — including those
I've spent years with — couldn't really describe who I am. They knew my name,
yes, but not my person. Not my story. Not my heart. It hurt. It still does,
though.
But then,
I saw a mirror — this is how many of us are with Jesus.
We know
His name. We speak His name. We even perform wonders in His name. But do we
truly know Him?
In John
6:26, Jesus said:
“Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but
because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.”
They
followed Him for what He could give, not for who He was.
That’s
just it!
We have
churches filled with people who know about Jesus but don’t know
Jesus.
We lift
our hands in worship but hold back our hearts.
We speak
His Word but don't walk in His will.
We must go
beyond religion into a relationship with Him.
Beyond His
name to His nature.
Beyond
seeking His gifts to desiring His presence.
To know
Jesus means to walk with Him daily, to surrender, and to love Him even when
miracles are delayed. It is to sit at His feet like Mary, not just to serve in
His house like Martha.
A life
truly transformed. A heart that burns for Him.
A soul
that finds peace not just in answered prayers, but in His person.
A
generation that will not just call His name but carry His heart.
This is a Call to You
Dear
reader, you may know the name Jesus, but today He’s asking:
“Do you
know Me?”
Would you
open your heart beyond what He can do for you, and truly pursue who He is?
This is
not a call to religion. It is an invitation to fellowship — to the Person of
Jesus( The man who died for you, and he resurrected to give you a new
life). He sees you, loves you, and longs to be known.
